NeuroHel

NeuroHel is a multidisciplinary neuroscience study group in the Helsinki area (mainly students and researchers from UH and TKK). The goal is to promote dialog between various neuro-related research fields, in particular between analysis and synthesis. Traditionally neuroscience has been dominated by analysis or experimental neuroscience. New, rapidly developing fields using synthetic methodology such as machine learning and computational neuroscience could have a lot to learn from and teach to the analytical research but the first requirement is that researchers of the field know each others work and methodology. Helsinki area hosts a number of neuro-related research groups (see, e.g., research groups in FGSN) and we hope that the study group can bring together students and researchers from various groups.

The first NeuroHel meeting was held in January 2005 and we decided to start with journal club but now we have been moving more towards discussing topics related directly to the research of the participants.
